We leave here the Post Blog, Ane Kortaberria, responsible for youth projects of remote villages through which it tells us much of what has been lived during the PR Ull Guide of Isora.

Can you imagine what would happen if we joined 10 students of 7 degrees and different masters and put them to work by solving real challenges on an ecological farm, a store that sells local products and a handmade dulcería? That is exactly what we achieve with “peoples Remote Ull Guide of Isora ” . In its third edition, this initiative - in collaboration with the University of La Laguna - has proven to be much more than an academic project: it is a space where youth, innovation and commitment to sustainable development are found to generate a positive impact both in students and in local communities.

The challenges of current youth: a barrier that we must overcome

Today's youth faces challenges that go beyond academic or professional. They are social, emotional and cultural barriers that limit their personal development and their ability to face the challenges of the real world:

  • Individualistic society: the culture of "I first" and emotional disconnection have weakened the values of collaboration and community.
  • Problems of social and communicative skills: the inappropriate use of technology has reduced the ability to interact face to face, affecting effective empathy and communication.
  • Conformist Youth: There is a lack of generalized interest in entrepreneurship and the search for innovative solutions for sustainable development.
  • Disconnection with nature and the rural world: many young people have lost the link with natural environments, forgetting their importance for our well -being and sustainability.
  • Lack of creativity: traditional academic routine often suffocates the ability to think out of the box.

Disconnection between academic learning and real contexts: what is learned in classrooms rarely applies in day -to -day situations, which generates frustration and lack of purpose.

The benefits of "Student Student Peoples"

From pueblos remotos we begin in 2024 with our experiences for students: remote students (mainly of universities, masters or professional training), in which 10 students coexist for 5 days in a rural municipality, working with local entrepreneurs, nourishing themselves with learning On a personal and professional level.

In addition, this project not only identifies the challenges in relation to the current youth mentioned above, but also actively works to combat them, offering young people a unique, practical and transformative educational experience:

1. Experiential and applied learning

The students apply their academic knowledge in real contexts. The solutions that are devised for local businesses are not theoretical exercises, but concrete responses to real problems that affect these little ventures.

2. Promotion of social and communicative skills

Teamwork, meetings with local entrepreneurs and presentations that are made, allow young people to develop essential social skills: effective communication, empathy and active listening capacity.

3. Connection with nature and rural environment

Visiting the ventures located in rural environments, knowing their history, understanding the challenges they face and discovering the dedication behind these businesses, generates a new assessment for the rural world and its opportunities.

4. Development of creativity and innovative thought

Each challenge is an invitation to think out of the conventional. The students learn to find creative and sustainable solutions, facing challenges that have no predefined responses.

5. Strengthening of self -confidence and leadership

Exit the comfort zone and face diverse situations, allows students to reinforce confidence in themselves develop leadership skills.

6. Time and resources management

Planning, prioritizing and executing tasks within a specific term is a fundamental part of the process. The students learn that every minute and every resource counts when working in a real environment.

Testimonies that inspire

Also, one of the participants, of PR Ull Guide of Isora, reflected on his experience:

“This experience allowed me to know much better the reality of a rural municipality. I understood the challenges they face, such as the lack of resources or the need to attract more population, but also the opportunities they have to innovate and develop. Seeing closely how local entrepreneurs take advantage of their resources and creativity to overcome these difficulties was very inspiring and helped me even more value the potential of the rural environment. ”

For his part, a local entrepreneur commented:

“I am very happy with the experience of Pueblos Remotos , since it has opened many ways and above all I have changed the mentality I had before. Being involved in the project, in my case on the farm, it is difficult to know what other possibilities exist. Students who have participated in experience have helped me contributing new ideas. That is, I see them as "new sap" that arrives at the farm, comes from other areas, in addition to being prepared, with more up -to -date ideas. This has helped me to raise new actions that I can improve and continue doing, being also economically not very expensive but very viable » - Maria del Mar, founder of the Finca Las Dulces.

For all this, we conclude that "remote students" is much more than an educational project: it is a bridge between youth, the academy and the community. It shows that when young people receive the opportunity to leave the classrooms, connect with reality and face concrete challenges, they become agents of change capable of transforming their environments.

The success of this third edition reaffirms the need to continue betting on this type of initiatives. Because investing in youth is not only a commitment to the future, but with a more committed, more creative and more sustainable present.

Currently, from pueblos remotos we are looking for opportunities to replicate these types of experiences in other places at the state and European level. Therefore, if you have a relationship or you know any educational institution that might interest this initiative to know. Thank you very much and until the next experience!
