Last Wednesday, September 25, 2024, we celebrated a very special webinar as part of the Great Rural Kedada . This event brought together four great rural entrepreneurs who are part of the Rural Talent Map of Rural Citizen . It was an afternoon full of learning, enriching conversations and a large dose of inspiration.

Our speakers shared their stories, the challenges they face in their day to day and the impact they are generating in their communities. Here we bring you the most outstanding points:

Entrepreneurs who participated:

  • Ivan del Caz - Bikonsulting and director of Rural Citizen . Ivan told us about how his project seeks an economic and political model focused on people and the planet, and how the rural offers a unique opportunity to implement this approach. He stressed the importance of collaborative networks to promote systemic change in the rural world.

  • María Rodríguez - co -founder of how a goat , shared her experience in Triple Balance entrepreneurship, where the economic, social and environmental success goes hand in hand. Maria showed us how rural entrepreneurs are leading a paradigm shift in the way of doing business, focusing on sustainability and local impact.

  • Miguel Lucea - Founder of Coliving Sojuela Young , offered us a vision of the importance of opportunities for youth in the rural world. After years living abroad, Miguel has returned to Rural to implement European projects that promote juvenile learning and development, using coliving as a tool to attract young talent to rural areas.

  • Noelia Romero - Founder of Coliving Pitasana Cougo , inspired us with her passion for revitalizing her region through art and nature. Noelia talked about the power of coliving to generate collaborative projects that connect people with the local environment and culture, highlighting their annual Pitafaesta as an example of this connection.

Key topics that addressed

During the talk, several important issues were addressed that marked the conversation:

  1. The importance of the rural talent map : all panelists agreed that being part of this map is key to visible rural projects and generate collaboration networks. For them, belonging to this community allows them to connect with other entrepreneurs and find opportunities that would not otherwise have reached them.

  2. The motivation behind the Great Rural Kedada : this event is a space where people are with the same commitment to revitalize the rural. All highlighted the illusion for participating in the Great Rural Kedada 2024 , an appointment that allows them to connect with other entrepreneurs and learn from their experiences.

  3. Positive impact on their communities : the projects of the panelists not only seek to be economically viable, but are also committed to the improvement of the environment in which they develop. Ivan, María, Miguel and Noelia highlighted how their projects are generating jobs, promoting sustainable tourism and creating new opportunities for local youth.

  4. Current challenges : although the projects of these entrepreneurs are inspiring, they also face great challenges, such as lack of financing, depopulation and difficulties in attracting and retaining talent in rural areas.

An open dialogue space

The Webinar was also a very participatory space, where attendees were able to ask their questions and share their own experiences. The speakers interacted closely and offered practical advice for those who are also interested in undertaking in the Rural.

Final reflections

We conclude the event with a reflection on the future of the rural. The panelists agreed that, although the challenges are great, the potential of the rural world is huge. In 3-5 years, they see more connected rural communities, with greater collaboration between projects and with a growing number of young people committed to sustainable development.
