After the wonderful experience we had with Icod Remoto, which we shared with you through the post: Icod Remoto, 21 days of Connected Rurality , we couldn't just sit around doing nothing for the rest of 2021.
Many reflections and questions arose for us: what are the next steps? What approach do we take with the project now? Or simply, what do we do with all these lessons learned? Well, we got to work doing what we do best: creating a new experience in the form of a project, and that's how Antigua Remoto .

But the credit for this new initiative is not solely ours. On this occasion, launching the project on the island of Fuerteventura has been made possible, to a large extent, thanks to the on-the-ground collaboration of the Fuerteventura Biosphere Reserve, Rural Quality & Ecotourism, and the support of the Tourism Board, through the Department of Tourism, as well as the Antigua Town Council and the Department of New Technologies of the Island Council.
Antigua Remoto
This new initiative will take place from November 12 to December 3, and just as we did during Icod Remoto, it will have the participation of 10 teleworkers and 6 local actors, who will collaborate, side by side, during these 21 days, in order to generate a direct socio-economic impact in the aforementioned municipality of the island of Fuerteventura.
The municipality of Antigua, one of the most rural and artisanal on the island, will be the magical setting from which they can work remotely, enjoy activities, participate in challenges, meet and connect with people with the same concerns and live an experience they will remember for a lifetime.
"I'm thrilled that our next edition will be in Fuerteventura, the island where I was born and for which I have a very special affection. Being able to replicate our already validated model in another of the Canary Islands is a true honor." Elsa Rodríguez, co-founder of Pueblos Remotos.
For this we will have two incredible accommodations: La Era de la Corte, a rural hotel with more than 100 years of history, and the Villa de Antigua manor house, a traditional Majorera house with a lot of charm.
