Last Wednesday, July 2nd , we held a new monthly webinar (yes, this time a little late) and to kick off the summer we're bringing you the Rural Role Models .
We had this conversation with Jacobo Monereo, who is one of the co-founders of an incredible project: Regeneration Academy .
He, along with his colleagues, are achieving remarkable things from a small village in Murcia (La Junquera), and they are doing so based on regenerative and sustainable agriculture . What more could you ask for? Well, have a conversation with him and he will tell us about it firsthand.
Jacobo studied economics in Madrid and after a few years working in the technology sector changed his direction to the agri-food sector, now with more than 10 years of experience and with an MBA in agri-food business management he has co-directed the Regeneration Academy since 2019.
Of course, it was an open space, in which to interact and share.
Sowing knowledge from La Junquera
Regeneration Academy shared a lot of useful information, data, impacts and knowledge about regenerative agriculture with us; after the webinar, we all felt like going out into the fields and planting something.
Jacobo told us about how the project came about, the challenges they faced (and continue to face), and how just 3 people arrived in an 'inhospitable' place and transformed it into a place full of life.
He also told us about how they are working from rural Murcia/Andalusia, how they are building a more sustainable future through training, knowledge transfer and putting a lot of effort into the field.
In addition, during our conversation with her we also got answers to questions such as: What are the biggest challenges you identify right now for starting a business in a rural environment? What impacts are you currently generating in the rural environment? Or , who are the projects you have underway at Regeneration Academy primarily aimed at?
