Last Wednesday, October 30 , we returned with our section of rural references and we did it to bring you a very special story from Estella, a town in Navarra.
Jesus and Amaia are rural entrepreneurs, but in reality, they are much more than that: they are father and daughter. The passion both of what they do is incredible and the way they have is endearing. Amaia is graduated by the University of Design of La Rioja and has a Master of Design in Shifta-Elisava by the University Design School of Barcelona. Jesus is a creative artisan with more than 30 years of experience.
Both have founded Baku Barrikupel , a project to reuse materials that have finished their useful life. They design and manufacture decorative and functional elements applying the ecodesign throughout the process. Its products are manufactured in a small handicraft workshop one by one. And all this, they carry it out from a rural environment.
What Jesus and Amaia are getting from this little corner of Navarra is commendable and it is worth being told, so we get down to work with it and we leave you the recording of this webinar in which to know its history more depth, His work and his passion.
Promoting generational relief
Inside the webinar 'we played a lot of sticks', but something that was latent, apart from the complicity father and daughter, is an issue that is not lacking challenges within rural Spain: the generational relay.
Jesus commented that he was not worried about the relief, since Amaia can take care of Baku, but he is worried about being able to find a person who replaces him. Here is a debate that will be in hundreds of business right now, on the one hand, there are businesses that close (being 100% profitable) because there is no one to continue with them and on the other hand, businesses that run the risk of not being able to continue because no They find qualified professionals to keep them open.
But as they said, we will have faith that among all the people who live in different territories of Spain, one that can take the place of Jesus and continue, thus, the magnificent legacy of Baku Barrikupel.
