My first rural coliving, in Galicia

Gabriel tells us in this post the story of how it has been to live from within a rural coliving experience with Pueblos Remotos . Imagine! A Galician living a Coliving experience along with 9 other remote workers, Aka "Remotiños", by the hand of pueblos remotos in Galicia.

Hello!

I introduce myself. I am Gabriel, Executive Marketing of Galiwonders, specialized travel agency on the Camino de Santiago .

rural coliving experience with remote villages. Imagine! Coliving experience along with 9 other remote workers, Aka "Remotiños", by the hand of remote villages in Galicia .

Although to date I have lived and traveled to different countries in Europe and the world, this was my first time in a Coliving . When someone thinks of making a coliving , he surely imagines traveling to another country that is not yours and living with people from other countries in the world. And this is a possibility. coliving experience in your own country or community. As my case has been.

Why did I decide to make a rural coliving and work remote from Carnota?

If you have come here, you may also ask yourself this question. Before giving you my opinion on why you should participate in a coliving , I must admit that in my case, it is not something that I was planning.

In Galiwonders we had been working on a new project: Knowmad Tribe . A web portal of stays in Coliving and 'Popup' Coliving for remote workers.

It was thanks to Javi Boquete (local leader of this experience and from now on, simply Javi) that he shared through LinkedIn that remote villages organized an experience of Coliving Rura L in Carnota. So, as we do with the development of new experiences in #Caminodesantiago , we encourage ourselves to participate to live the experience in the first person and why not, generate new opportunities for collaboration with remote peoples 🤗🤗 and other colors . Just because! Networking and Coliving go hand in hand. Keep reading, tell you 😉

You see! Of pure chance. Yes. This is how the best plans arise. I must admit that participating in pueblos remotos Carnota 2024 has been one of the most enriching experiences that I have lived in recent years. Both personal, professional. It has been so much, that it is in the ranking at the level of the first university year; from Erasmus or the first professional experiences.

If, like me, you have never participated in a Coliving experience , I sign it on your list of pending plans . I can assure you that the experience is worth it. Without a doubt, one of those experiences that you have to live at least once in life.

Community, coexistence and personal development. The essence of rural coliving

Carlos, Ceci, José, Josep, Kino, Lupe, Tomás, Toño, Petra and one who writes these words. Without these 9 people the experience would not make sense. And it is that by living 9 people in community for 21 days connections arise from those who leave their mark.

Twenty -one days of coliving in which a sense of belonging to a nearby community is generated. We have helped and collaborated on a day -to -day basis. Involved and participated in common projects. We have generated individual personal connections. And in general, we have shared very much between the 9 colors , giving rise to a micro-community that will remain in us for a lifetime.

Activities such as waste collection in Lariño Lighthouse; The Family Lunch or Family Dinners improvised, with what each coliver in the pantry; the picnics on the beach; the walks along the rocks of the beach of Ameixenda; the barbecue and beers session at sunset; Skill Sharing sessions ; group dynamics; the 'queimada' and the 'conxuro' in the moonlight from Panchés; and a laaaaargo etc. They are some of the experiences we have shared.

'Picnis' to the sun

Has anyone said Fomo? Depends! Hahaha (how much game this word has given in coliving ...)

We have even had time to share intimate moments between 9. And no, it is not a bacanal. I have no doubt that teaching the ass to the moon to ask for a desire is a time that will link us to the 9 participants of Pueblos Remotos Carnota 2024 '4Ever'.

The connection with nature and Carnota. A magical place.

Javi told us that the first months after having moved there, it was hard for him to sleep at night, due to the energy that Carnota gave off.

And I can confirm it: Carnota is a perfect place to breathe fresh air and tranquility. The perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the great city. This corner of A Costa Morte transmits a lot of strength and generates a brutal connection with the environment (although I have to say that I have managed to reconcile the dream at night)

It is not surprising that Carnota, specifically Monte Pindo, is the protagonist of myths and legends of Celtic origin as that of Queen magnifying glass; the blessed water; or the legend that talks about the forms and disposition of their stones. In addition to multiple shipwrecks during the Middle Ages. And yes, from the catastrophe of the prestige, in 2003. An oil tanker who shipwrecked in front of the Finisterre coast, causing the well -known black tides. An unprecedented natural crisis.

Contemplating Carnota

Awakening Mount Pindo with a view; Go to Bico do Santo and see the entire coast from Monte Louro to Fisterra. With the Lobeira Islands in the center; See how the sun sets every afternoon next to Finisterre; Tour the 7 kilometers of Carnota beach (the largest in Galicia !); And I could continue ... but I better invite you to discover it in the next rural coliving of remote villages 😉

Remote work, networking, creativity and innovation

After what I told you you may think ... But when do you work in a coliving ?

Well yes! Between plan and plan we have also dedicated time to our professional responsibilities. Although it might seem otherwise, combining between work and free time in coliving was simple. Although yes, we have ever had to extend the day to stretch the Family Lunch , a good cause!

And between coffee and coffee ... a lot of good vibes and networking! In my opinion in coliving , a conducive environment is generated to expand your professional network and collaborate with people from other fields.

In this Coliving of Carnota we participate people from various profiles: software development, graphic design, psychology, press and radio, digital marketing, web design, content creation, tourism ...

This allowed us to share knowledge among the participants, thus enhancing our creativity. In addition to generating synergies between projects and new collaboration opportunities, such as this shared post between Pueblos Remotos and Galiwonders!

Impact on the local community

As you will know the purpose of the brand of remote peoples is: "We want to reactivate rural environments, empowering local entrepreneurs and promoting conscious tourism."

After living the experience in the first person, I can only say that of "is in your DNA." There is no doubt that our participation in this coliving allowed us to contribute our grain of sand to the economic and social development of Carnota. And I would also like to add that this experience has impacted us (read positively) to all participants. Opening our eyes of the possibilities that it offers in the rural and that a new way of doing tourism is possible. I tell you how!

On the one hand, we participate in the "local challenge." In which throughout 3 sessions we collaborate with students of 4th course of the ESO of the IES Lamas de Castelo, to shape the design of the presentation of its entrepreneurship project “Carnota connects”. A tourist portal for the region. Without a doubt, an enriching experience that allowed us to know Carnota's reality from his eyes and exchange experiences and knowledge.

Working on the elaboration of our 'recycled fish' (PR 24)

Our participation allowed to generate economic activity in local businesses (accommodation, supermarkets, bars, restaurants, local gymnasium, wellness, stationery ...) at a time when the tourist activity in the area is practically non -existent. Desestationized, thus, tourism activity.

In addition, we were able to meet and participate in various workshops: collection of beach waste and transformation of it into art with Ali and Sven de Ali Vavá; Recovery of traditional engraving techniques with Alba from Espazo to a pot or the ceramic and painting workshop with Nacho Porto.

If you want to know more about the impact of remote peoples in the local community I invite you to see your documentary or download your impact report .

The Camino de Santiago and the experiences of Rural Coliving as development agents of rural areas.

The Camino de Santiago and the experiences of Rural Coliving are emerging as significant development agents in the rural areas of Spain. The Camino de Santiago, a network of pilgrimage routes that culminate in Santiago de Compostela , not only attracts thousands of pilgrims annually, but also revitalizes local economies throughout their journeys. The French road , the Portuguese road , the primitive road or the Northern path are a clear example of this. Pilgrims generate demand for lodging, food, transportation, etc. which encourages the emergence of small businesses and the creation of jobs in the rural communities of northern Spain and Portugal.

At the same time, the experiences of Rural Coliving are gaining popularity among professionals who have the possibility of teleworking and seek to escape from cities and work on quieter and more natural environments or live a local experience. Because yes, these initiatives not only provide a collaborative work space, but also encourage social and cultural integration between remote workers and the local community. Rural Coliving experiences contribute to dynamic community life, promote the exchange of knowledge and skills, and stimulate the local economy through the consumption of local products and services.

Both initiatives, the Camino de Santiago and Rural Coliving , play a crucial role in the fight against rural depopulation. By generating economic and social activity, they help maintain and revitalize these areas, ensuring their sustainability and long -term development. Maybe this coliving has been the beginning of a new collaboration remote villages - Galiwonders - Knowmad Tribe 😉

Overall of my first rural coliving

In short ... Participating in pueblos remotos Carnota 2024 has been for me an enriching experience. Vital. Of those that mark a before and after in your life. I will undoubtedly repeat at some point. And to you, you read these words, if you have not yet participated in any, I recommend doing it, because you are not going to regret it. And if you have already participated, we are sure to see you in the next one. Or on the way 😉
