La experiencia ‘The Break’ 2022, cerrando nuestro primer proyecto internacional

Te dejamos por aquí un breve resumen de los 60 días que hemos vivido con ‘The Break’ 2022 y del último evento de networking que co-organizamos para despedir la experiencia.

Article written by Carlos Jonay Suárez , co-founder and head of digital strategy at Pueblos Remotos .

Sixty days is a long time, if I start thinking about the amount of things that can be done during so many hours, it would take me forever to start writing this blog post.

The 'The Break' program lasted two months, during which 280 female entrepreneurs from many European Union countries came to Spain to live a unique experience.

For our part, and as I mentioned in the article: 'Closing the first stage of 'The Break' 2022' , we have lived this whole experience from the municipality of Agaete, on the island of Gran Canaria.

But as I did in the previous article, I would like to start with the end of the experience we had between November 3 and 28 of this year, or rather, by telling you about the Women Entrepreneur International Networking (Second Edition) that we co-organized with Proexca Hashtag Workspace coworking space .

Representing international and local female talent

If something works, why not repeat it? That's what we asked ourselves when we co-organized the Women Entrepreneur International Networking event (Second Edition) . The first event generated such positive feelings, and we had so many things left unsaid, that we wanted to repeat the formula, with some changes, of course, to continue supporting and promoting female entrepreneurship.

One of the first changes came because of the event's venue, which this time was the Hashtag Workspace , where once again, we felt right at home.

The event again featured two panels, but both the audience and the topics were different.

Within the first panel: Canary Islands: The Best destination to foster female entrepreneurship? – in which the following participated:

We focused on the importance of the Canary Islands as a destination to promote female entrepreneurship, what programs these institutions have in place for this purpose, or parallel purposes, and on answering the questions of the attendees.

The second panel, "Inspiring Women Entrepreneurs Stories ," featured the following speakers:

We were able to learn about the stories of these female entrepreneurs, and the challenges they all face, in a relaxed and very friendly way.

Breakers to the stage!

Supporting local growth

The event also included a space for the creation and contribution of valuable ideas.

At Hashtag Coworking we also had four working groups with two main themes:

  • How can we foster more collaboration between the different women entrepreneur communities from the Canary Islands?

  • How can the community support more women to internationalize their businesses?

After forty-five minutes of intense work and debate, a representative from each group presented the main conclusions from the stage.

Of course, we couldn't leave the event without our 'Photo Finish' and our networking moment, accompanied by delicious snacks from the Hashtag Coworking team.

We take this opportunity to thank once again all the people who made this event possible:

  • Sonia Siemens (Proexca)

  • Guillermo Quintana Ramos (SPEGC)

  • Clarissa Pierobon (ITC)

  • Kim De Coster (Slow & Co)

  • Amparo Fuentes (Hashtag Coworking)

  • Maria Mayordomo, (Cactus Coliving)

  • Ulrike Güse (Ulita's Loom)

  • Heiko Schäfer (Honor's 'Breaker')

  • Sara Picazo

  • To all our breakers: Martina, Lucy, Marta, Lena, Rebecca, Rosa, Rosana, María, Mechthild, Sara and Letizia.

  • To all those people who helped us spread the word about the event and reach as many people as possible.

See you soon?

If we started this experience with a few questions, the ending was not going to be any different.

To capture here everything we experienced during those sixty days would be very difficult; I think that even with a moment of peak inspiration, it would be almost impossible to convey everything we have lived through. What we can say (and I know I speak also for Elsa and Gon) is that it has been a VERY intense, yet beautiful experience, and it will be something we will always carry with us, along with a lot of wonderful people we have met along the way, of course.

The future? Well, who knows? We're going to continue fully committed to our projects and to bringing Connected Rurality to wherever we go; that much is certain. Everything else will depend on the work and decisions we'll have to make along the way.

To conclude, I would like to once again thank, this time all those people (and in a slightly more general way) who have made experiencing all of this possible and, above all, much easier:

  • Thank you to each and every one of our Breakers, for sharing, for helping, and for living this experience to the fullest.

  • Thanks to the Impact Hub Madrid – 'The Break' team for the great work they've done.

  • Thanks to the rest of the 'Host Organizations' for supporting and sharing throughout the experience.

  • Thanks to the repeople team for offering us the opportunity to do this in a sensational space and in a magical corner like Agaete.

  • Thank you so much to each and every one of our mentors, for giving your all and being there for each and every one of the girls.

  • Thanks to all the colivers who joined our sessions, dinners and shared moments.

  • Thanks to the local community for their involvement and for making us feel more at home.

  • Thanks to each and every one of the sponsors: Proexca, SPEGC, Best in Gran Canaria, Aider and the Agaete City Council, who supported us in this adventure.

  • Thanks to all the friends who have helped and supported us so that not only 'The Break', but Pueblos Remotos continues to 'grow' day by day.

I would also like to thank Elsa and Gon; with you all this has been much easier and I have felt like family during all these days that we have lived together.

For everything else, I can only say… See you soon!
