Experiences that mark you: from Icod Remote to old remote

In this article we count through testimonies the road from Icod Remote to ancient remote.

Article written by Carlos Jonay Suárez .

Icod Remote is for me the first stop on a long trip. In addition, the experience has been super good, the kindness of the people, knowing the island, the classmates, who are fantastic and entrepreneurs have initiatives that are a pass ”Raúl Navarro, participant in Icod Remote.

The paragraph that you have been able to read above is the review with which anyone who generates a project dreams, these words, that we could hear live and direct, is one of the reasons why we are doing this, is one of the Leitmotiv of remote peoples.

In addition, the first phrase fully coincides with us: the first stop of a long trip, is what also meant for us Icod Remote. Now, fully immersed in our next adventure, it is when it makes more sense to revive everything that our 'pilot episode meant.'

A story through testimonies

The stories have always been part of the peoples. They are one of the communication channels that have allowed traditions, songs or stories to last. Many of those stories have been testimonies, small or long stories of day -to -day experiences, or experiences of travelers who have seen a territory with the look of the 'foreign'

For us, the look of the participants of Icod Remote Bea, Stephanie, Alvaro, Bruni, Marco, Cristina, Lucía, Endre, Sabela and Raúl has been fundamental to build ancient remote.

All the feedback they have given us has helped greatly improve processes and experience, but in addition to feedback, seeing how they lived the project is what has driven us to launch ourselves with a new initiative in 2021.

Three things that I take with me: having met better ICOD, to local companies and the townspeople. I loved being in nature, doing something with my hands on earth and improving my Spanish. Stephanie Josine, participant in Icod Remote.

I decided on Remote Icod, because I really liked the concept of being in a town and integrating into it, with the teleworking with a backdrop. Álvaro Valls, participant in Icod Remote.

[Remote Icod] It seemed like a good opportunity to come to know better Canary Islands (I had not been since childhood); Being teleworking was the perfect opportunity to work and enjoy the rural environment. Beatriz Segura, participant in Icod Remote.

I came to Icod remote for two main reasons: to reactivate rural environments and sustainability, because I consider that, especially my generation, we have to change our way of life and be more respectful of nature. Brunhilde Rygiert, participant in Icod Remote.

Icod Remote seemed to me a super good opportunity to work in a privileged environment, with good weather, nature, surrounded by teleworkors from different sites, while passively generating an active return to the local. Sabela Souto, participant in Icod Remote.

Many of these words talk about expectations that were fulfilled, of challenges that have become friendships, people without any connection who are weaving networks, all of them, in the back Any place, any place, in short, they talk about connected rurality

But, regardless of these testimonies, for us it is also very important to have the vision of local actors who participated in Icod Remote.

I saw so much union between the wonderful people who were going to be part of Icod Remote and who sought to fight for sustainability that at no time did I hesitate to sign up. Victor Rolo, founder of Bodega Cambium.

I decided to join Icod remote because it is a connection point between local agents and teleworkors. Because yes we go together, we fly further. Natalia Díaz, founder of Ecoalpispa.

Pueblos Remotos seems to me the future of tourism in the Canary Islands, a much more sustainable, ecological, environmental and society tourism. Kay González, founder of Alberto Dorner.

Thus, a circle is closed that gives the perfect balance to what has lived between teleworkors and local actors, that relationship we always look for in every thing we do.

The future? The future has two words: ancient remote

As I already mentioned on another occasion, the future of Pueblos Remotos can be very diverse, but right now we are focused on living the best possible experience on the island of Fuerteventura. Growing in experiences, community and ties with the environment.

Our future, close, is ancient, an adventure that we will live with new local actors and with new teleworkors, and from which we hope they generate a connections in such good harmony as those that emerged in ICOD.

It was impressive, the exchange between teleworkors has been super enriching and meeting local entrepreneurs gives you a feeling of joy, that these projects are being done here, I am super happy to have participated. Cristina López, participant in Icod Remote.

This project would not be possible without our sponsors: Tourism Patronage of Fuerteventura , City Council of Antigua and Cicar .
