Panel: Entrepreneurship from the town or the rural environment

Within this panel we had a fantastic encounter to talk about undertaking from the town or rural environments. To do this we have three luxury speakers: Diego del Tree (director of Returmos.org and ideologue of Restteu), Macías Council (Director of Projects in Almanatura) and Óscar Pérez (co -founder of Hola Ghana and The Social MBA)

Throughout 2022 we begin with a series of webinars of knowledge through which we share some tips, advice and above all we show examples of people who are doing in the rural world.

You can see our two previous webinars through the Post Blog: How do we generate positive, and real impact, in the rural environment? And how do Coliving & Coworking work in the rural environment?

Last week, specifically on Wednesday, February 22, we resumed these knowledge webinars with a panel to which we put the title of 'Entrepreneurs from the villages or the rural environment' and for which we could have:

  • Diego del Tree : Director of Returmos.org , a project that helps all those people who want Mobility of people among different European territories.

  • Macías Council : Project Director in Almanatura, a project that helps, through public/private alliances to the reactivation of rural territories.

  • Óscar Pérez: Hola Ghana co -founder, volunteer and cooperation NGOs with more than 12 years of experience and The Social MBA, a 100% online MBA focused on social economy and impact.

Within the debate that we generate, we could know more in depth behind these projects, why they started them and what they are currently doing since them.

Zoom chat had a lot of activity and through it, very interesting resources were shared that we share at the end of this post blog.

Answering some key questions

Within the 'key' questions that we transfer to our panelists could not miss those linked to the challenges they face and what is the impact of what they apply.

Thus, to the question What are the biggest challenges that identify right now to undertake from the rural environment? We obtained the following reflections:

[Oscar Pérez]: We started this project in Colombia 6 years ago, we have gone through a coliving in Asturias and now we are developing it from a villages in Cantabria, and what I identify is the same, which costs to find 'that generation of connections or capital social'

[Diego del Tree]: I agree with 100% Oscar in access to talent or connections […], but I add two more: Internet access, especially in certain rural areas, or isolated from Spain, since this is something Fundamental for digital work. And the second has to do with the sensitivity of public administrations to understand that it can also be undertaken from these environments and that for this we must give a series of basic services.

[Macías Council]: We from Almanatura one of the first things we see is the issue of 'limiting beliefs', that is, all those that are identified with the fact that nothing can be done in the rural world or that there are no opportunities for Encourage/do (for this it is important to change the narrative, for example, change Spain emptied by rural reactivation) another thing in which I agree is with the issue of social capital, we have to surround ourselves with people who inspire us. And finally, innovation, since it is one of the great challenges/blockages that are always identified in the rural world, there are a lot of interesting projects and referents in the rural world that are doing very interesting things.

If we go to the question , what impact are their projects in the rural environment?

[Diego del Tree]: I love measuring, but with what we are doing from we return.org we have placed more emphasis on the stories and 'the faces' of the people behind. Even so, if we talk about numbers, since our beginnings we have helped to return to about 3,000 people, where 20% have done it outside Madrid/Barcelona.

[Oscar Pérez]: What we have done is work from the rural to build a global project. Even so, from Cantabria we are trying to energize the impact entrepreneur 'The Break'

[Macías Council]: We have been in activity in which we have reached more than 400 towns nationwide, we have empowered more than 15,000 women in the last 3 years, through the 'Hello town' project we are accompanying 80 people for a year and a half. At level number, it's great. But we also have to take into account the non -quantitative part with questions such as how do we change the quality of life of people living in the rural world?

Within the video you have more interesting questions, that we ask both us, as the participants within the webinar, so we invite you to see it and of course, that you subscribe to our YouTube channel.

Soon we hope to announce a new panel, or new training content, to continue learning and growing together.
